I think the story goes, Rex was in the middle of a fight, Matt was backing him up in full form (this'd be post 'cure', so she has control of her abilities now...)... his nanites decide to derp out in midair, and of course Matt being resourceful... catches him before he goes splat the only way she possibly can.
