Ceramics Pet Project 1 - 4

Technically this was taken last Thursday. I was just too lazy to upload it until now.

Not much has changed at all, really in this shot. I did a lot of hollowing out from the inside though to make things lighter / easier to dry / less prone to kersploding or cracking.

You can already see the tips of the teeth and horns drying out (they're turning white) already. I had to wrap them all up in plastic so they don't dry TOO fast and crack some more. It looks kinda funny. xD

The only thing not shown (since I did it after the pic was taken), were the numerous suture lines and cracks I etched in to simulate a real skull. I'll try and get a pic of that tomorrow when I go in to check on it

Moar teeth broke. It disappoints me greatly. They'll definitely fall off if moved incorrectly and will probably end up falling off when it's fired. :c Blaagh. Maybe the studio tech will let me load him into the kiln, since the guy already broke two of my pinch pots while loading them. I don't exactly trust him... :[

I took it next to this giant ruler for size reference. It's about 26 inches from the longest tooth to the tip of the horns. 2' 2". Hoo-ee.

But, it is more or less done. HOORAY.

I'll keep you posted on how / if it survives firing.


I really should name him. Ideas?
