YAY.

Just... YAY.

Eleventymilliontimesover.

Yes, the metallic black DID in fact turn blue in some minor areas, but other than that, HOLYCRAPILOVEHOWTHISTHINGTURNEDOUT. :heart:

This took... what, since the middle of October? Then again, I only had a few hours every two days to devote to this project, add to that the backlog of stuff to be fired (since there were 4 - 5 classes all using them)... Yeah. But just wow.

The bone sutures got eaten up by the glaze sadly, but I really like how the black and brown interacted. I'm not fond of the gas kiln for most of my stuff... but it turned out alright.

Medium: Standard Stoneware Clay
Glazes: John's Shino (under) + Metallic Black (over)

It's shrunken about 2 1/2 inches from the two firings, so it's now like... 24 inches long. That's still two feet though. XD

EDIT: I made a spiffy collage of some different detail shots I just took. Ooooooo.

EDIT II: Holy crap on a cracker, a Daily Dev?! For this?! I'm honored. Thanks a lot!

EDIT III: Here are WIP pics, starting from the concept sketch all the way to the finished product.

[link] - Yay for foam!
[link] - added the "gums" and other stuff. Note the ginormous ruler beside it. XD
[link] (And details: [link] [link] [link] [link] ) - Still drying...
[link] - After firing, unglazed Bisque
[link] - Unglazed Bisqueware assembled
[link] - Glazed. It slipped as I was glazing it, hence all the busted teeth. ._.;
[link] - the day it was removed from the kiln, last day of Ceramics class. the blue is horribly apparent here. :/

Ceramics Dragon Skull by ~Autobot-Windracer is a rather unique sculpt, work in this style cannot be easy at all not just due to the fact that skeletons are complex structures, but particularly because in this case there's obviously nothing it can be based on accurately. The hollows, indentations and boney prominences have been well researched from similar subjects. ( Suggested by ~elegaer and Featured by !Thebuild )
